Kanryuu (7 years ago) I think it's because directors know that no matter what they spew out people are going to eat it up. Back when movies were first coming out, they had to put effort into the plot, characters, music, etc. That's why Star Wars and Jurassic Park were and still are revolutionary. They changed the tone for what was considered good story telling. Nowadays they slap on the same titles and crank out movies without an ounce of effort or thought. Same thing goes with games imo.
